LAB-OR is a design practice that studies and makes images, objects, buildings, and texts based on the teaching and scholarly work of Jessica Garcia Fritz and Federico Garcia Lammers. Their work focuses on the role of media and its impact on the relationship between architecture and labor. Jessica and Federico are founding faculty of DoArch, the first architecture program in South Dakota.

LAB-OR (formerly mMÁS) is a design practice that studies and makes images, objects, buildings, and texts based on the teaching and scholarly work of Jessica Garcia Fritz and Federico Garcia Lammers. Their work focuses on the role of media and its impact on the relationship between architecture and labor. Jessica and Federico are founding faculty of DoArch, the first architecture program in South Dakota.

Jessica Garcia Fritz (co-director) is a native of South Dakota who has worked and studied in different locations in the United States and Europe. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and a Master of Architecture from the University of Minnesota, School of Architecture, where she was a finalist for the Richard Morrill Memorial Thesis Award for Design Excellence. Following graduate school she worked as an intern architect in New York City and began working as an exhibit designer at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI). Working with the NMAI Exhibits and Public Spaces Department, she gained experience in designing and constructing museum exhibits with a socio-cultural and historical focus. Jessica is an Assistant Professor at DoArch, South Dakota State University, where she teaches design studio, architectural history, and manages the architectural library collection.

Federico Garcia Lammers (co-director) moved to the United States from Montevideo, Uruguay in 2001. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Master in Architecture from the University of Minnesota, School of Architecture, where he received the Henry Adams AIA Certificate and the Richard Morrill Memorial Thesis Award for Design Excellence. Since 2005, he has worked as an intern architect and designer in Minneapolis/St.Paul, New York, and Portugal. While working with Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects in New York City, Federico was an important part of interdisciplinary design teams working on the design and development of large scale international projects. Through this experience he researched and developed building information technologies and their impact on design workflows. Federico is an Assistant Professor at DoArch, South Dakota State University, where he teaches design studio, collaborative workflows, and coordinates a student travel study to Montevideo, Uruguay called Cities on the Water.
